Sugar Free Cranberry Sauce Recipe
I love making homemade cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving, because it's always so easy and quick but makes such a nice difference bringing the whole meal together! But today, we're making a sugar free cranberry sauce recipe, with no added sugar or fruit juice!
If one of your Thanksgiving food fights is over the best kind of cranberry sauce, look no further! This recipe is perfect for anyone who follows a low-carb or keto diet, or just wants to limit their sugar this holiday season for any reason! For me, it's an easy way to cut sugars early in the meal and save some for dessert!
Are cranberries Keto friendly?
Actually, yes! Cranberries are relatively low in carbohydrates and high in water and fiber, so they're definitely Keto friendly in moderation. Nutrition Disclaimer That's why keto cranberry recipes work so well!
Keto Cranberry Sauce - Swerve Sweetened
So how to we skip the added sugar in this cranberry sauce? Easy -- we're using Swerve brown sugar substitute and Confectioner's Swerve to add sweetness without adding sugar and carbs. Confectioner's Swerve gives us the texture we want, and the brown sugar Swerve gives us a deliciously rich holiday flavor!
How many carbs in Keto cranberry sauce?
This sugar free cranberry sauce recipe has only 5 grams of net carbs per serving!
Ingredients
- cranberries - can't have keto cranberry recipes without cranberries! You can use either fresh cranberries or frozen cranberries for this recipe.
- orange zest - to get that orange flavor that goes so well with cranberries, we're using orange zest. We're saving on the carbs by not including sugar, but you still get so much amazing flavor! You can also use a bit of orange extract.
- ground cinnamon and cloves - using ground cinnamon and ground cloves in this recipe adds a hint of holiday spice that goes so well with the cranberry and orange zest!
- Confectioner's Swerve - I like the sweetness of Swerve Confectioner's in this recipe. Allulose also works great, or you can make this sugar free cranberry sauce recipe with monk fruit too!
- Brown Swerve - I like the added caramel-y flavor of using Swerve brown sugar substitute in this cranberry sauce -- if you prefer, you can stick with confectioner's swerve or your sweetener of choice instead.
- vanilla extract - be sure to use a high-quality pure vanilla extract. Or better yet, check out my post on how to make vanilla extract at home with just 2 ingredients!
