What is pumpkin cold foam?
Homemade pumpkin cold foam is a sweet, spiced whipped topping made with pumpkin purée, cream, and pumpkin pie spice that’s frothed until light and foamy, then poured over iced coffee.
It's a favorite because it gives you that fluffy, creamy goodness of whipped cream, while still being light and pourable, so that it slowly blends into your drink.
Pumpkin Spice Cold Foam Recipe
This is the best pumpkin cold foam recipe because it gives you that perfect mix of fall spices and real pumpkin flavor without needing a fancy coffee setup! You only need a handful of simple ingredients, and the result is a thick, foamy topping that takes any iced coffee or cold brew to the next level.
And the best part is that you can adjust the sweetness, spice, and thickness exactly how you like it. Or make a double batch for a super creamy, foamy coffee to make the most out of pumpkin spice season!
What is in the pumpkin cream cold foam?
You can find the full list of ingredient measurements in the recipe card below, but here's a quick look at what you'll need:

- pumpkin spice sauce - We're using my Starbucks pumpkin sauce recipe to make this pumpkin foam recipe! It's made with real pumpkin puree and it's the perfect creamy pumpkin syrup to sweeten and flavor your favorite fall drink. You'll want to prepare a batch of that and chill it overnight.
- half-and-half - your half-and-half should be very cold. If you don't have half-and-half, you can use a combination of equal parts heavy whipping cream and whole milk.
- pumpkin pie spice - I love the flavors in a classic pumpkin spice blend. Store-bought works fine, but if you really want the best flavor, use my Pumpkin Spice Blend recipe to make your own pumpkin spice topping!
And if you're using this easy pumpkin cold foam recipe to make your own coffee drink, you'll need:
- cold brew, iced coffee, or iced tea - whatever iced coffee or tea drink you like works great! I like to use this pumpkin cream recipe on Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso, cold brew, or an iced chai latte!
- pumpkin pie spice - a little more pumpkin spice blend to sprinkle on top!

Equipment
You'll need something to whip your foam up until it's fluffy. I usually use my handheld milk frother for this, but you can also put the mixture in a blender like they do for the Starbucks version, or use a French press to whip it up!
If you want to get really authentic, you can whip up your DIY pumpkin cold foam in a coffeehouse-style frothing pitcher, but I usually just use a random mug. Then, just serve your iced drink in a cute glass or travel tumbler, and pour your creamy homemade pumpkin cream cold foam on top!
How is pumpkin cold foam made?
The recipe card below will give you detailed step-by-step instructions and a recipe video! But here are the basic steps you'll follow for how to make pumpkin cold foam:

Start with the pumpkin spice sauce -- heat water and sugar in a saucepan.

Stir in your pumpkin, condensed milk, and pumpkin pie spice and bring to a simmer.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, and salt to taste.

Pour pumpkin spice sauce into a mason jar and chill overnight.

To make your pumpkin cream cold foam, mix chilled pumpkin spice sauce with very cold half-and-half.

Whip with a handheld milk frother until it thickens up about double in size.

Pour over your favorite iced coffee or tea drink.

Sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on top and enjoy!
Hint: For best results, make sure your half-and-half and pumpkin sauce are very cold. I even like to pop them in the freezer for 10 minutes before mixing my pumpkin cream cold foam.
Can you make cold foam without heavy cream?
Yes! This recipe calls for half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but you can use equal parts heavy cream and whole milk if you like!
If you don't have heavy cream or half-and-half, the easiest swap is using 2% milk or whole milk. It won't be as creamy, but it works: just froth it with a handheld milk frother until it gets light and foamy. For a creamier dairy-free version, oat milk or coconut milk whips up really well.

Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew Recipe
It's easy to use this pumpkin pie cold foam for my favorite fall drink: a pumpkin spice cold brew recipe! Just pour your favorite cold brew coffee (add water according to package directions if it's a cold brew concentrate). You can add a little simple syrup if you like, just make sure to leave space at the top of your glass for your cold foam!
Add ice and set your cup aside while you prepare this pumpkin cream cold foam according to the recipe card below. Then just pour your DIY pumpkin cold foam on top of the coffee, sprinkle your pumpkin pie spice on top, and enjoy!

Storage
This pumpkin cream cold foam recipe should be enjoyed right away, but if you have leftovers you can store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to four days.
You'll need to re-whip your leftover pumpkin cold foam straight from the fridge before serving.

This Starbucks copycat recipe captures the flavors of pumpkin spice you'd get in a Starbucks pumpkin cream cold brew, but you can make it in the comfort of your own home!

Whether or not it's "healthier" depends on your individual nutritional needs and the advice of your medical professional, but I will say that this cold foam recipe tends to be lower in fat than heavy cream, since it's made with half-and-half.
No — cold foam is different from whipped cream. Whipped cream is dense and fluffy, while cold foam is lighter, pourable, and designed to sit on top of iced coffee so it slowly blends in.
Yes! A French press works great, Just pump until the mixture doubles in volume. You can also shake it in a mason jar, though it won’t be quite as smooth.
Yes! Oat milk and coconut milk (especially barista-style versions) often froth better than almond or soy. They’re lighter and pair well with pumpkin or vanilla flavors.
Top Tip
Be sure to enjoy your pumpkin pie cold foam right away, because it will lose its fluffy texture over time.
